Holter-Monitoring

A Holter Monitor is a small digital device that records the electrical conduction of your heart to measure heart rate and rhythm. This recorder can also help determine if your medications are having the desired effect on your heart. Five electrodes will be applied to the patient’s chest, and the device will be worn for 24 or 48 hours. Once the test is completed, you will return the monitor to our receptionist, the recorded data will be uploaded to a computer and processed by a certified Cardiac Technologist, and a report sent to your physician.

Special Instructions

Please do not use any lotion on your chest the day you pick up your Holter monitor. Also, patients should shower or bathe before the exam since neither are permitted while wearing the monitor.
